A triangular triplatinum(0) complex with bridging germylene ligands: insertion of alkynes into the Pt-Ge bond rather than the Pt-Pt bond

A new triangular triplatinum(0) complex with bridging diphenyl-germylene ligands, [{Pt( PMe3)}(3)(mu-GePh2)(3)], undergoes insertion of ZC CZ (Z = COOMe) into a Pt-Ge bond. The product contains a mu(3)-eta(2)(parallel to)-CZ=CZ-GePh2 ligand on the Pt-3 plane. Two molecules of HC CZ react to afford the Pt-3 complex with chelating C, Ge- and Ge, Ge-ligands.
