摘要

The growth-mitosis cycle is a universal phenomenon characteristic of all living cells. Therefore, any theory for its explanation cannot be based on reaction mechanisms occurring in special situations only. Aiming at explaining the growth-mitosis cycle, a model (essentially a re-elaboration of Volterra's predator-prey theory) is developed based on on the mutual relationships between water (either in liquid or in adsorbed state) and hydrophilic sites of proteins.
