摘要

The application of HTLS conductors, capable of operating at high temperatures and with low sag, has offered significant gains in current carrying capacity. In order to undertake a steady-state ampacity calculation of these conductors, a number of internationally recognized models are used, such as Morgan, CIGRE and IEEE. However, the different characteristics and operating conditions to which they are submitted have brought about the need for an assessment of the applicability of these models. This article sets out to compare the models using the amount of heat that makes up the thermal equilibrium equation of the conductors, focusing on the operation of TLs at high temperatures. The results have indicated that the thermal behavior of the IEEE model proved more adequate when HTLS conductors were applied.
