摘要

Information technology allows organizations to collect and use consumer's personal information in ways that were previously impossible or economically impractical, which leads to concern for information privacy. Validated instruments for measuring individual's concern about organizational information privacy practices will improve the related research. This study used confirmatory analysis on responses from two samples of 754 Chinese to examine the reliability and validity of the scales which were developed by Smith et al. in 1996. The results show that there are differences in the dimensions and the samples did not support the concern for information concern as a second-order formative construct. These differences reflected that privacy concerns are influenced by cultural and legislation.
