摘要

Priochilus captivum builds nests with multiple cells and several individuals will nest in proximity; this allowed us to obtain much information concerning the biology of this species, including host association, habitat choice and seasonal foraging, and reproduction. We conducted observations of nesting behaviors and prey capture of P. captivum weekly for 2 years in two localities in Brazil. Here we present new prey records and describe the aspects of construction and camouflage strategy of the nests. Aspects related to the biology of the larva, longevity, sex ratio, reproductive success, and seasonal activities are also reported based on active nests reared in the laboratory.
