摘要

The TE01 delta mode of a dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) is excited by a special configuration which is composed of four printed arc-shaped dipoles. Based on this, an omnidirectional cylindrical ring DRA with horizontal polarization is designed, fabricated, and measured. The measured results match well with the simulated ones. The 10 dB return loss bandwidth is 4.5% (2.39-2.50 GHz). Within this operating frequency band, the measured gain is in the range of 2.12-2.54 dBi, and the simulated radiation efficiency is over 87%. Besides, the maximal radiation direction of the antenna is in the horizontal plane and the gain variation in all direction of the azimuthal plane is less than 0.5 dB. Moreover, the designed antenna has a compact size of 0.33 lambda(0) x 0.33 lambda(0) x 0.10 lambda(0), where lambda(0) is the wavelength of the center frequency.
