Application of apparent resistivity characteristic value method to the delineation of water-rich karst area

摘要

Beijing is in urgent need of backup water source to deal with its water shortage. Karst water is considered as an appropriate backupwater source because it usually has high quality and occurs in large quantities. However, the priority is to discover an approach to delineating the water-rich karst areas as they normally occur beneath the Quaternary System. In this paper, an apparent resistivity characteristic value method based on direct current vertical electrical sounding was proposed on the basis of previous research. The correlation between the characteristic values and the water abundance of the karst areas was discovered through comparing the research data and existing borehole data. Based on the statistical analysis, 1.65 and 1.8 were chosen as the boundary characteristic values to delineate the Cambrian and Ordovician water-rich area and the Changcheng and Jixian water-rich area, respectively. The borehole data demonstrated the effectiveness of the method in delineating the water-rich karst areas in the Shunyi-Pinggu region.
