摘要
2013 marks the centenary of Alfred Russel Wallace%26apos;s death. Throughout the year this great scientist will be celebrated worldwide. The Linnean Society will be involved in several events and are working on conserving and digitising his ten manuscript notebooks to make them available to researchers and the public alike (see http://www.linnean.org/The-Society/societynews/Wallace_2013). To commemorate the centenary we have compiled an online virtual issue of the Biological Journal of the Linnean Society and its predecessors, containing articles by Wallace himself together with a selection of more recent works by authors influenced by the man and his ideas.
