A simple and rapid method for analyzing organic acids in Chinese medicine, Radix ranunculi Ternati, was developed. Using CH, OH ( 10% H-2 SO4)-C-6 H-6 (1:1) as the methyl esterification solvent, the direct methyl esterification of organic acids in the Chinese medicinal material was completed within one minute, under the microwave conditions of the power (600 W) and the pressure (0. 2 MPa). 23 components were determined by GC-MS. And 18 compounds, which were 96. 79% of the total chromatographic peak areas, were identified by using NIST2000 spectrum base. 20 common peaks of total ion chromatogram were determined by analyzing organic acids of the Radix ranunculi Ternati. from the different sources.
