摘要

In this letter, a compact quadrature coupler based on a circular sector patch element with metallic posts loading along the edge, is proposed to provide a wide range of coupling coefficients, which is difficult to achieve using existing topologies. Instead, this can be achieved by simply adjusting the ratio of the radii of circular sector patch resulting in a simple design procedure. To verify the proposed configuration, a series of quadrature couplers operating at 30 GHz with different coupling coefficients are designed, fabricated and measured. Excellent performance is achieved with a significant size reduction of 84.1% compared to the miniaturized substrate integrated waveguide cruciform directional coupler reported in literature.
