Novel Surface-Initiated Polymerization of Pyrrole on a Vanadium Pentoxide Surface

摘要

A novel polymerization reaction that polymerizes pyrrole to polypyrrole (ppy) on the surfaces of vanadium pentoxide (V2O5) particles in an aqueous medium without the addition of any oxidizing agent is reported. Polymerization is induced by an in-situ generated pervanadyl ion (VO2+) at the vanadium pentoxide surface. The resulting composite is covered with a very thin ppy coating layer.
