摘要

Wind power has great potential in application because of its clean and renewable production compared to the traditional power. Most of the research works on floating wind turbines rely on the hydro-aero-elastic-servo simulation codes, which have not been exhaustively validated yet. Thus, model tests are needed and make sense for its high credibility to master the dynamic characteristics of floating offshore structures. Dynamic responses of the spar-type wind turbine are investigated through model tests. This paper describes the methodology of wind/wave model test carried out at deepwater offshore basin in Shanghai Jiao Tong University with a scale of 1: 50 for the model. Detail of the scaled model of wind turbine and floating supporter, set-up configuration for the test, mooring system, high-quality wind generators creating required homogeneous and low turbulence wind, and instrumentations capturing loads, accelerations and 6 DOF motions are described. The wind and wave effects on the floating wind turbine, which may occur alone or in combination, are analyzed.
