X-ray Excited Optical Luminescence from Mn Doped Spinel Crystals

摘要

X-ray excited green colored optical luminescence with peak wavelength at 520 nm was observed from Mn doped spinel (MgAl2O4) crystal under Cu K alpha irradiation. Peak intensity of luminescence increased linearly with X-ray intensity changed by X-ray tube current and voltage. Peak intensity of X-ray excited optical luminescence from Mn doped spinel crystal was larger than that from Tl doped CsI crystal which was widely used as a scintillator. Bright green colored luminescence is suggested to be useful for X-ray detection (especially for CuK alpha detection) by Si photo-devices (PD and /or CCD) and human eye.
