摘要

A new species of hermit crab of the family Paguridae, Pagurixus haigae, is described on the basis of numerous specimens from Japan, Guam and Phuket, Thailand. It belongs to the P. anceps group characterized by the absence of two setal rows on the ventral surface of the ultimate segment of the antennular peduncle. Comparison of the new species with nine previously described species of the group is made. In life, the new species can be easily recognized by the characteristic color pattern. McLaughlin & Haig (1984) incorrectly identified this species as P. laevimanus (Ortmann, 1892).
