A note on active redundancy allocations in k-out-of-n systems

Consider a k-out-of-n system comprising the components C(1), ... , C(n). Suppose that two spares, R(1) and R(2), are available for active redundancy in one of the following two ways: R(1) with C(1) and R(2) with C(2), or R(1) with C(2) and R(2) with C(1). Following Romera et al. (2004) and Valdes et al. (2010), we compare lifetimes of the resulting systems with respect to the criterion of stochastic precedence.
