A research on swelling property of rubber materials in methanol gasoline

By using immersion method, tests are conducted respectively on the effects of gasoline and M30 methanol gasoline on the swelling property of 7 rubber materials commonly used in motor vehicles. The results reveal that non-oil-resistant rubber materials (silicone rubber and EPDM) swell most severely in M30 methanol gasoline; on the contrary, 4 oil-resistant rubber materials (NBR, HNBR, FKM and fluorosilicone rubber) have better anti-swelling property under the same condition.
