A Framework for Multiple Ontology Integration of Multilingual Ontologies in Web Environment

Researchers are working on ontology integration in order to reuse the constructed ontologies, and a number of tools for ontology integration have been developed and used. However, most of the conventional methods and tools have following problems: (1) a mass ontology is hard to be managed by them, (2) a number of ontologies cannot be easily integrated at once through them, and (3) a number of workers for ontology integration cannot work together with them. To overcome the problems and facilitate the ontology integration, in this paper, we propose a method that can integrate a number of mass ontologies (which are represented by different languages) by a lot of workers at once. In the method, we define a database-based ontology (called pseudo-ontology) and establish an ontology integration process (called OntoIntegProcess) to simplify the ontology integration tasks. Furthermore, we develop the web-based ontology integration system (called OntoIS). Finally we show the effectiveness of the method through the experiment on ontology integration.
