摘要

The interaction between a typical power plant fly ash particle (6 microns in diameter) and a flat graphite substrate is measured using atomic force microscope (AFM). The surface energy of the particle is obtained and the influence of relative humidity on electrostatic force is investigated. Electrostatic attraction force is found to be significant in vaccum, while could hardly be detected under environment atmosphere. In the experiment, electrostatic force primarily originates from the contact charging of the particle, and could be quantitatively well described by a simplified point charge interaction model.
