摘要

The existed high voltage direct current (HVDC) travelling wave fault location methods often have bad accuracy and can't adapt to different working and fault conditions. To solve this problem, this paper presents a novel fault location method based on broadband travelling wave information. Firstly, a deep research is made on the travelling wave speed variation characteristic and its inherent relationship with the broadband information, pointing out how it impacts on fault locating results. Then, to deal with the variant speed properly, a complete wave speed treatment scheme is carried out based on the broadband information, significantly improving the accuracy of the excited fault location algorithms. Furthermore, applying the scheme into one terminal fault location, a novel one terminal algorithm is proposed, which does not need detect the second wavefront of the fault travelling wave and hence considerably reliable. Relevant simulation is performed in EMTDC taking Tian-Guang HVDC system for instance, and the results verify the correctness and feasibility of the method.
