摘要

Titanium carbide (TiC) particles bundles-reinforced iron matrix composite material was prepared by the method of in-situ reaction between Ti wires and C atoms in the matrix. Component, structure, chemical composition and abrasive resistance of the composites were observed and tested by XRD, SEM (with EDS) and two-body wear testing. The results show that the titanium wire has reacted completely and generated hard particles bundles of titanium carbide which are evenly distributed when the preform of nodular cast iron and titanium wire heated at 1138°C for 12 h. Three kinds of TiC morphology in the particle bundle are observed; small globular particles, long strip particles and agregated titanium carbide particles. The two-body abrasive wear test indicate that wearing resistance of composite is 4 times higher than that of standard sample.
