Diaquabis[1-ethyl-6-fluoro-7-(4-methyl-piperazin-4-yl)-4-oxo-1,4-dihydro -quinoline3-carboxylato]cobalt(II) octahydrate

In the title compound, [ Co( C17H19FN3O3)(2)( H2O)(2)]center dot 8H(2)O, the Co-II atom ( site symmetry (1) over bar) exhibits a distorted octahedral geometry that is defined by two bidentate O, O-bonded 1-ethyl-6-fluoro-7-(4-methylpiperazin-4-yl)-4-oxo-1,4-dihydroquinoline3- carboxylate (pef) monoanions and two water molecules. A network of O-H center dot center dot center dot O and O-H center dot center dot center dot N hydrogen bonds help to establish the crystal packing.
