A one-pot synthesis of 1,2-dihydro-1-arylnaphtho[1,2-e][1,3]oxazine-3-ones catalyzed by iron(III) phosphate under solvent-free condition

An efficient green route for the preparation of naphthoxazinones, applying a three-component one-pot condensation reaction of 2-naphthol, aromatic aldehyde, and urea in the presence of iron(III) phosphate under solvent-free conditions, has been developed. The present procedure offers several advantages such as short reaction time, simple workup, recovery, and reusability of the catalyst. In addition, some new compounds were synthesized, and procedure could easily be scaled up.
