摘要

This paper presents a wait limit policy for a supply chain that consists of a supplier and a manufacturer. If the supplier can't support adequate materials or have a poor delivery performance, the manufacturer may lose some profits. Under such conditions, there are two measures that the manufacturer can take. One is to wait for the supplier return to normal state. The other is to find a new supplier. Each measure may cause loss of profits to the manufacturer. An alternative considered here is to wait for a failed supplier return to normal state if the waiting time is short or to replace it if the waiting time is long. This is achieved by stopping wait if it is not completed within a waiting limit time, and the supplier Is replaced We discuss optimum wait limit policies that minimize the expected cost rate for an infinite time span by applying the stochastic process and reliability theory. Numerical examples are presented to demonstrate the application of the proposed method.
