<jats:p>A novel thermodynamic potential based on generalized Gibbs energy is introduced and substantiated for an arbitrarily loaded solid surrounded with a fluid. The potential is also applicable to heterogeneous fluid systems where it simplifies calculations. The wide use of the potential is illustrated with practical examples.</jats:p>
