摘要

Visible light communication (VLC) has emerged as an alternative wireless communication technology owing to its efficiency, ubiquity, and no radio frequency (RF) radiation characteristics. Critical medical data including the electrocardiograph (ECG) data can be transferred with VLC even in places where traditional RF communication (e.g., Wi-Fi) is forbidden. This potential advantage of VLC could save more lives anywhere with a fast emergency response time. To increase the data transmission capacity, a multichannel transmission scheme approach is adopted. Conventional VLC transmission platform however employ typical photodiode which lacks the ability to separate signals of different color light source of multichannel transmission. We propose a multichannel wavelength division (WD) VLC scheme that simultaneously transfers three different data streams, using three different distinct color wavelengths carrying each different medical data, via the same wireless communication environment. The multichannel scheme utilized only one receiver device (color sensor) to realize the color data signal collection. The collected data are analyzed to provide the necessary medical attention for the concerned patient. Adopting the WD scheme in the VLC enables the system to differentiate among the data to be processed and successfully collects the respective data simultaneously.
