摘要

A novel light-weight thin sheet metal is processed by single roll-bonding of two sheet-metals that hold small amounts of foaming agent positioned carefully in between. Further heat treatment of the assembly releases the foaming agent creating small bubbles with controlled geometry and distribution through the entire material. The product is called a "metallic bubble wrap". In this study, we present our recent results on processing of this novel type of sheet metal foam through single roll bonding technique along with its mechanical and microstructural characteristics in comparison to a bulk sheet of aluminum. The failure of the material is also studied and reported.
