A review of the hirsutitibia species-group of the genus Helina Robineau-Desvoidy (Diptera : Muscidae) from China, with the description of one new species

The genus Helina Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830 is the second largest genus of the Muscidae. More than 400 species are known worldwide, and 200 of these have been described from China. This paper outlines earlier studies on the subgenera and species-groups of Helina. The H. hirsutitihia species-group is defined for the first time and its main characters are described. A catalogue of the 15 known Chinese species is given, together with their distribution and the description of one new species, Helina reni, sp. nov., and a key to these 15 species is given. Type specimens are deposited in the Institute of Entomology, Shenyang Normal University, Shengyang, Liaoning Province, China.
