摘要

Crystal structure determinations for the divergent quaterpyridine-type ligand bis-1,4-(di-4-pyridylaminomethyl)benzene, dpab, and its complexes with silver(I) trifluoroacetate and nitrate have revealed the operation of different weak interactions within the lattices. Coordination of four pyridyl-N donors to Ag(I) in the trifluoroacetate results in a 3-dimensional coordination polymer with the uncoordinated anions held within the cavities created by that polymer. In the nitrate, only two pyridyl-N donors are bound to each of the two inequivalent Ag(I) centres and the lattice contains two interpenetrating coordination polymers linked by CH center dot center dot center dot O interactions involving the coordinated anions.
