摘要
The historical origin of soil pollution and the main concepts involved in it are considered. The outstanding relationship between the management of contaminated soils and the assessment methods of health risks is proposed. The main aspects of the assessment of polluted soil risks are presented taking into account the periods of identification and description of health risks. The relevance of soil studies in the processes of retention, transformation of soil pollutants is showed and the different aspects of human exposured to pollutants are assessed. The methods to describe risks, as well as the present relevance of management methods such as the RBCA are introduced. Finally, new challenges for risk assessment are proposed.
