An approximate method to analyze combined structures with foam blocks

An approximate method of modeling foam materials in a pre-tightened combined structure is put forward. Its basic process consists of developing a numerical model of a foam material property testing system, adjusting some parameters of the foam material in the model until the numerical results approach the related experimental ones, and applying the adjusted parameters to analyses of pertinent combined structures. An application to a combined structure shows that the present method is better than previous methods.
