摘要
A radio-fluorogenic gel makes it possible to visualize the spatial intensity of "invisible" ionizing radiation. This is illustrated for the gamma-ray emission from a small seed of the radioactive (192)Ir isotope of iridium. The underlying mechanism involves the conversion of a non-fluorescent molecule into a fluorescent form when incorporated into a radiation-initiated, growing chain of a bulk monomer. [GRAPHICS] .
