A chroma determination sensor based on TCS3414 for petroleum products

Focused on the insufficiency in visual determination method for oil products in current China, a transmissive color sensor based on TCS3414 was designed. Key process in chroma determination of petroleum products was improved, which replaced the human eye to distinguish chroma of oil. In order to determine the chroma of oil, the CIE-1937 color formula was used to process the data of samples. The standard light source system based on Light-Emitting-Diode (LED) was designed and the testing program code was compiled accordingly. The results showed that the new sensor system has the advantages of high speed, high precision and favorable stability, which also could reduce the labor intensity, and eliminate the subjectivity and inconsistencies caused by observing behavior. The new sensor system will be used extensively.
