摘要

Flotation performance of coal particles is commonly assessed using clean coal yield and ash, combustible matter recovery, flotation efficiency index, etc. This study attempts to use probable error (E-p) and separation density (delta(50)) to assess the flotation performance of coal particles. It was found that the E-p value can well indicate the flotation performance of coal particles instead of clean coal yield, clean coal ash, combustible matter recovery, and flotation efficiency index. The E-p value increases with decreasing particle size. In addition, delta(50) increases with increasing particle size. This means that the separation accuracy of coarse coal particles is higher than that of fine coal particles and larger coal particles need more surface hydrophobicity to float than smaller coal particles.
