Multicomponent reactions (MCRs), especially asymmetric multicomponent reactions (AMCRs), have received considerable attention due to their great intrinsic advantages as well as their applications in drug discovery. Recent progress on asymmetric multicomponent reactions (AMCRs) including diastereoselective and enantioselective approaches to chiral molecules is reviewed. The application of asymmetric catalysis and corresponding reaction mechanism are the major focus. It elicits issues and perspectives of AMCRs in the end.
