A digital watermarking technique based on multiresolution decomposition was proposed. By multiresolution decomposition technique, the decomposed watermarks of different resolution are embedded into the corresponding resolution of the decomposed original image, which makes the watermark be adapted to the original image. The algorithm can extract the watermark without the need of original image, because the embedding procedure is based on the relationship between different resolution layers of the original image. Experimental results show that the proposed technique is robust to some image processing operations and is also robust even to Joint Photographic Experts Group (JPEG) lossy compression.
