摘要
The aim of this work was the antimicrobial functionalization of a textile material via a host-guest system. Cotton was treated with beta-cyclodextrin host molecules (BCD) via conventional exhaust application, followed by a curing process. These fabrics were then treated with an antimicrobial agent (chlorhexidine acetate). Chlorhexidine acetate adsorbtion onto these fabrics was calculated and compared to a control. Further antibacterial tests were done on the functionalized fabrics and compared to their controls as well. This work also describes the selection of an antimicrobial molecule, a spectral study done on two kinds of BCD-antimicrobial molecules, the adsorption onto BCD-fixed fabrics, and the subsequent antibacterial property of such fabrics.
