摘要

Fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs) can be used as optical temperature and strain sensors inscribed into the core of an optical fiber [1]. In certain applications, FBGs offer benefits compared to conventional, electrical sensors [2]. These advantages, however, go along with the significant effort to convert the measurement result from the optical to the electrical domain. Furthermore, the influence of cross sensitivity (either temperature or strain) usually have to be cancelled out. This paper proposes a simplified setup that enables temperature- or strain-compensated measurements based on fiber Bragg grating sensors with reduced complexity. The principle was tested in simulation as well as in experiment.
