摘要

Specimens preserved as coalified compressions of a fern pinna part were investigated. The fossils represent imprints of sterile pinnule - a part of probably two- or tripinnate leaf with 7 pinnule segments preserved. Based on the shape of the pinnule segments, their venation and margin features, these fossils can be assigned to the genus Botrychium (Ophioglossaceae) with a high level of confidence. The tropical American species B. underwoodianum has closest pinna morphology among the recent representatives of the genus. This is the first macrofossil find of Botrychium in Bulgaria and its hypothetical age is the Oligocene/Miocene transition.
