摘要

Allergic airway and lung diseases by airborne molds Mold allergies are a subject of controversial public discussions. Particularly, the importance of indoor molds for human health is not definitely known. Molds are the cause of a variety of airway and lung diseases by allergic or infectious mechanisms, in immune competent as well as in immune compromised individuals. Seasonal allergic airway diseases by outdoor molds, particularly by Alternaria and Cladosporium spp., are the best documented mold-induced allergic diseases. In addition, in special risk populations, Aspergillus spp. is an important cause of rare allergic or infectious diseases, such as allergic alveolitis (EAA), allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis (ABPA), and aspergilloma.
