Modelling and Numerical Simulation of Biphasic Fluid Flow

摘要

The need for prediction of segregation effects in Powder Injection Moulding simulation proceeds to the application of the mixture theory. Such a theory is suitable to describe the mixture flow of viscous polymers loaded with powder particles in high concentration. The application of the biphasic mixture theory consists in modelling the injection in Powder Injection Moulding, the determination of the viscosity for each phase in such a model, and the development of an efficient and robust algorithm for extensive numerical simulations. One describes an efficient method occurring in the modelling of biphasic fluid flow. The discretization method is characterized by its robustness and its low computation cost. The method particularly concerns the spatial approximation of the Navier-Stokes equations thanks to a new finite element space P1+bubble/P1. The developed solver can correctly predict the evolution of the velocity and pressure fields, as well as the filling state at each instant. This simulation software is applied to analyze the influence of mould design and injection parameters in powder injection moulding processes.
