摘要

The inclusion of 1,4-dioxane in alpha-cyclodextrin has been studied by X-ray crystallography. The stoichiometric ratio of the host-guest complex, which showed the formation of a head-to-head dimer of the host stabilized by a net of hydrogen bonds, was found to be 2:3. Two 1,4-dioxane molecules are located inside the cavities of the alpha-cyclodextrin dimer, whereas the third guest molecule is found in the interstitial space between two head-to-head cyclodextrin molecules.
