Morphology transformation of Cu2O sub-microstructures by Sn doping for enhanced photocatalytic properties

摘要

Sn-doped Cu2O sub-microstructures have been successfully synthesized through a facile one-pot solvothermal method by copper (II) nitrate trihydrate (Cu(NO3)(2)center dot 3H(2)O) and ethylene glycol (EG) combining with different Sn ion sources as initial reagents. Their surfaces and size distributions of Cu2O sub-microstructures were significantly affected by Sn doping. The photocatalytic properties of as-synthesized Cu2O samples were evaluated by monitoring the degradation of methyl orange (MO) under visible light irradiation with or without the addition of H2O2. The results illustrated that Sn doping strongly enhanced the photocatalytic abilities of as-obtained Sn-doped Cu2O samples and the addition of H2O2 also had an important impact on the photocatalytic degradation process.
