摘要

The occurrence of peak discharges is not uniformly distributed throughout the year; therefore, the knowledge of the behavior of this variable in time could provide additional elements to improve the estimates. In this paper, the concept of peak annual discharge seasonality is applied to the gauging stations in Mexico through the use of circular statistics. With this seasonality of peak discharges, a zonification of the Mexican Republic has been obtained. This zonification can be used to prevent disasters associated with the occurrence of extreme floods.
