摘要

This research was conducted to assess the response of anti-depressant drugs sertraline and paroxetine in depressive patients by using MADRS, HAM-D and CGI Scale. The data was collected up to 200 patients, out of them 100 patients were those completed the 6 weeks therapy by taking sertraline and 100 were those were on paroxetine and completed the 6 weeks. After consultation with psychiatrist in psychiatric OPD the patients were asked to fill Patient Healthcare Questionnaire-9. Selected depressive patients were advised to start the antidepressant treatment with sertraline or paroxetine. Sertraline 50 mg/day and paroxetine 20 mg/day were started. After 2 weeks of completing initial dose the sertraline dose was enhanced up to 100 mg/day and paroxetine was increased up to 40 mg/day. For collecting the data of 100 patients who completed the 1.5 months of sertraline 50 to 100mg/day, we started the treatment in 131 patients. There were 31 (23.6%) patients who did not complete the therapy. Similarly 43 (30%) patients could not complete the paroxetine therapy for 6 weeks. Dropped out rate which was observed less in sertraline but more in paroxetine treated patients. Response rate was more in paroxetine treated patients that was 77% (n = 77) as compare to sertraline which was 72% (n=72) on the basis of GCI improvement scale. All patients responded well to sertraline and paroxetine but the response ratio was greater in patients who were on paroxetine 20-40 mg/day then those were on sertraline 50-100 mg/day therapy. Sustained ratio on treatment was more in sertraline and less in paroxetine.
