Analysis of structural and heat-physical properties of Sm-2(Hf1-xCex)(2)O-7 Ceramics

摘要

In the present study, a series of Sm-2(Hf1-xCex)(2)O-7 ceramics were fabricated by solid-state reaction method, and their structural and thermophysical properties were studied. The results indicated that all the Sm-2(Hf1-xCex)(2)O-7 oxides exhibited a single fluorite-type structure, except for Sm2Hf2O7 which showed a pyrochlore structure. Because of the phonon scattering caused by CeO2 doping, the heat conductivity of Sm-2(Hf1-xCex)(2)O-7 was reduced. The thermal expansion coefficient was also reduced owing to the relatively low electronegativity of Ce4+ ions. The heat-physical properties of the obtained ceramics met the basic requirements of thermal barrier coatings.
