Nanocomposites with decreased flammability. A synergy effect of combining the conventional flame retardants with nanofillers on the flammability level of thermoset resins

Unsatd. polyester resin was modified by addn. of melamine or NH4 polyphosphates, and organomodified montmorillonite or/and expanded graphite or/and nanosized SiO2. The addn. of the Combined flame retardants showed a synergy effect and resulted in a decrease in combustion heat and improving flame resistance of the resin.
