摘要

In an attempt to evaluate deformation mechanism of fine-grained materials, the deformation behavior of the fine-grained austenitic stainless steel was studied using micro-sized specimens. Two kinds of deformation mechanisms corresponding to different strain-hardening stages were found in the fine-grained austenitic stainless steel. The intragranular dislocation slip mechanism resulted in a rapid strain hardening of the stage I. The deformation incompatibility near grain boundaries and the appearance of roughness on the specimen surface were attributed to interactions between dislocations and grain boundaries. With increasing plastic strain, the grain boundary sliding mechanism at the stage II and subsequently intergranular cracking occurred.
