摘要
Recent biochemical evidence has revealed that proteins in the TM4SF (transmembrane 4 superfamily; tetraspan family) form complexes with certain members of the integrin family of adhesion receptors. This convergence of two protein families has considerable relevance for tumor cells, since both growth and metastasis are regulated by adhesion receptors in the integrin family, and are modulated by TM4SF proteins. The aim of this review is to examine integrin/TM4SF associations in the context of tumor cell behavior.
