摘要
A new birefringent microstructure fiber with large mode area was proposed in this paper. By introducing two big air holes in the fiber cladding region and a small elliptical hole in the fiber core region at the same time, the cross section of the fiber shows twofold symmetry and high birefringence can be obtained in the case of large mode area. With a vectorial finite element method, the properties of phase birefringence and group birefringence were studied and discussed. The results show, by properly choosing the parameters of the proposeo fiber, group birefringence of ∼10-4 can be achieved.
