Analysis on the Effect Factors of the Freight Transportation Energy Consumption Based on Complete Decomposition Model

Based the analysis on the relationship between the energy consumption of the freight transportation, transport structure and the energy intensity. The energy consumption decomposition model was built and then applied with the data available from 1990-2007. The result shows that the dramatic growth in transportation freight turnover is the main driving force, meanwhile the remarkable changes in transport structure also become an important impacting factor. While the existing decline in the energy intensity achieved in the sector has not been sufficient yet to restrain the growth of freight transport energy consumption. So the growth trend in freight transportation energy consumption is unavoidable. And the integrated measures should be taken in order to ensure its sustainable development.
